I've been teaching myself four-colour screen printing — specifically the separation side, turning an image into cyan, magenta, yellow and black halftone film negatives at different screen angles so the dots don't moiré when they overprint. I do the separations in GIMP rather than paid software, which took some working out and was most of the fun.
A long-standing pull toward the French repertoire — Ravel and Fauré especially. More recently I've been learning guitar, which has been a useful lesson in being a beginner at something again.
I read widely and not very systematically — philosophy, history, science, current affairs. The through-line is probably an interest in how people come to believe what they believe, which turns out to be relevant to geology more often than you'd expect.
