What matters to me

How I work and what I view as important.

01

Focusing on diligence and alignment

Since I have experience from data collection through to grade estimation and cash flow forecasting, I'm able to identify risks at various stages of project development. Additionally, I'm able to undertake the detailed technical work, understanding sophisticated mining software or computer science tools to check and verify at each stage. One of the key outputs is aligning the geological model and mine planning decisions with what is communicated in company disclosure.

02

Translating technical to commercial

Geologists, engineers, financiers and regulators all look at the same orebody and need different things from it. I enjoy being the person who can hold more than one of those views at once — who can take take that varied perspective and use it strategise growth and value creation options.

03

Build the tool, not just the output

I've long had a continuous improvement focus in my work. In my early days as a mine geologist, I was responsible for the customisation and implementation of underground geological mapping software. More recently, I've built a bank of tools using Python computer language to turn a multi-step manual process into a one click automated tool. My aim in this type of work is to maximise efficience, transparency and auditability.

04

Where I get the most fulfilment

I love applying myself to problems and delivering solutions. I feel there is a lot of value that can be created by reducing the cycle of problem, analysis and solution/implementation.
